My Favorite Beauty Products (Morning Routine)

I always think it is so fun to see into people’s lives. Why do you think reality TV is just so darn popular? So, for the next couple of weeks, I am letting into my routines that I have during various times of the day. We are starting this series probably the only way I can think of: with my morning routine!

Working an 8-6 full time job, I have to have my beauty routine DOWN. There is not a minute to waste when I get up in to morning. Personally, I like to exercise in the morning, be it with free weights or with a nice run, but, regardless, I need products that can get me from the gym and the office in no time at all!

Over the past couple of months, I have also made the transition to non-toxic and cruelty free beauty products. I realized a while ago that what goes into my body is just as important as what I put on it. Plus, a lot of my beauty products were old bottles I was holding onto since I was 16 that just NEEDED TO GO. You know what I mean? Anyways, now it has been a couple of months, I have finally worked through the products that no only leave me looking good but FEELING good. These are actually the products in my medicine cabinet right now, so you know they get the TCV seal of approval! Let me know in the comments below what you are using! I love hearing about what y’all are into. So, here we go!

Trader Joe’s Non Fluoride Toothpaste with Fennel, Propolis, and Myrrh

Brushing my teeth is usually the first thing I do when I come from the gym. I never really feel like the day can get started without a good clean mouth. Guys… mouth breath is too real! This toothpaste is affordable and does not have any fluoride in it. Plus, the fennel flavor is something I can really get behind.

Activated Charcoal Biodegradable Toothbrushes

For the past couple of months, I have been trying to cut cut back on my environmental waste… and that is when a friend recommended these toothbrushes for me. I never thought about how much waste we produce with plastic toothbrushes, but I feel good purchasing these biodegradable toothbrushes. They are pretty affordable ($9 for 6 brushes) and feel nice in my hand when I am brushing. Plus, the bristles are infused with activated charcoal, which, I swear, helps my mouth feel even cleaner.

Franklin and Whitman Dry Shampoo in East Falls

I am not kidding when i say I have spent YEARS trying to find a dry shampoo that actually works. I have very thin hair, making it very difficult to bring any sort of volume to my roots after not washing it. This stuff, free of any sort of crazy chemicals, is the only dry shampoo that actually WORKS for me. Just sprinkle on your hair, rub your fingers through it and BOOM, volume restored. They have two different scents, but I personally love the East Falls scent myself. (Remember, use the code “CUTTINGVEG” for 20% off your purchase of Franklin and Whitman products).

Wet Brush Detangler Brush

These hair brushes get two thumbs up from me. I have very thin hair that breaks very easily. These brushes keep the breakage down to a minimum especially when my hair is wet. I have one for my purse, one for work, and one at home, so you know I am addicted.

CHI Hairstyling Iron

On the days that my hair likes to cooperate with me, I love to curl the ends of my hair. Now, a straighter might not seem like the proper tool to curl the ends of one’s hair. However, I love that using a straighter to curl your hair doesn’t put weird kinks in the end. I have had the same CHI straightener since I was 19 and, while it seems expensive, it was one of the best purchases I have ever made.

Franklin and Whitman Midtown Village Facial Scrub

This stuff is AMAZING for the sole reason that it smells like coffee. I use it to wash my face, using the sugar and coffee grounds as a natural exfoliator. It is the perfect way to wake up my face in the morning. (Remember, use the code “CUTTINGVEG” for 20% off your purchase of Franklin and Whitman products).

Angel Face Botanicals Organic Facial Toner OR Franklin and Whitman Laurel Hill Facial Toner

I have a strong opinion that every woman should have some sort of facial toner in her bag at all times. It is essentially a refresh in a bottle! I use it after walking around in the sweaty heat, after a long flight, or in the morning after going to the gym. These two brands are both made of natural ingredients and smell AMAZING. You cannot go wrong with either option (Remember, use the code “CUTTINGVEG” for 20% off your purchase of Franklin and Whitman products).

Franklin and Whitman Walnut Hill Face Serum

I have truly noticed a difference since using this product about 4 months ago. Having had awful acne for most of my childhood, I used to believe that adding oil to an oily face was a BAD idea. Cue this amazing face serum, which genuinely makes my skin feel so freaking smooth and helps with any dark spots underneath my eyes. (Remember, use the code “CUTTINGVEG” for 20% off your purchase).

Bare Republic Mineral Based Sunscreen

I have the most OILY skin in the world, so putting more oily sunscreen on my face is NEVER a great move for me. Plus, i have red hair so my skin burns to a crisp in 10 seconds. For me, a good sunscreen in ESSENTIAL. When I found this sunscreen at Target, I was skeptical that an all natural sunscreen would provide as much protection as its chemical counterparts. Not only did this all natural sunscreen prevented me from getting burn, it also smelled great!

Cocokind Matcha Treatment Stick

If I have gotten way too few hours of sleep the night before, I find applying a layer of this face stick is a lifesaver. It is made from all natural ingredients and makes any dark, under eye circles and redness disappear. Plus, I secretly love that it has a slightly grassy smell that reminds me of my favorite drink.

Zuzu Luxe Liquid Eyeliner in Black Pearl

I normally do not put a ton of makeup on my face. In fact, my go to’s are usually a swipe of eyeliner and a swipe of mascara. This eyeliner is the perfect, dark black and does not irritate my sensitive skin. It is a subtle color with a slight shimmer, making it perfect for day time wear.

Beautycounter Lengthening Mascara

I first learned about this mascara from my friend Christina. I was skeptical about using an all natural mascara, mostly because I did not think I would get the same results. I have to say that this mascara might be better than any drug store mascara I’ve ever used. Plus, BeautyCounter is al brand I trust. They restrict over 1,500 toxic chemicals in their products, compared to the 30 chemicals that are restricted by the US. I love the message of this company and you should too.
